The ladies 1st XI was again captained by Emma
Smith, with her second in command Justine Woodcock. The
Staffordshire Ladies Division 1, proved to be quite a
challenge as they finished the season in 11th
place. This however did not represent how the team
played throughout the season. The skills and ambition
from the young ladies gave the team a youthful and
energetic look while the more experienced players were
there to stick in the odd cringe worthy tackle (Ange)
and put the opposition back in their place.
Also on a Thursday the ladies enter a team in the Burton
floodlit league mixing players from both teams and the
youth of the club, as well as the these games to bring
on the youngsters is the under 18’s ladies team that
take part in the girls national cup each year and the
Under 18 Girls Staffordshire league. Last year the girls
came runners up in the league and are set to do well
again this year.
In
addition to that each season the ladies enter that
Ladies National Vase competition and this year we
reached the Quarter Finals and are set to partake again
this year. Also this season we entered the Ladies
Staffordshire Cup for the first time and After the
season ends we try and enter as many ladies grass or
mini tournaments as possible to keep the team atmosphere
and ‘socialising’ going. |
